Dr. Allin Toothaker
Dr. Toothaker’s first name is spelled Allin in records
Allin Toothaker was born 1 Aug 1747 in Billerica, Middlesex,
Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Dr. Roger Toothaker IV, and Mary Crosby. Allin was the 4th
generation of doctors in the Toothaker family of Billerica Massachusetts. His
great-grandfather, Roger Toothaker II, was practicing at Salem Village when he
was accused of witchcraft by the adopted niece of Dr. William Griggs. Dr. Roger
II died in prison awaiting the disposition of his case
Allin was a physician in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Allin Toothaker was a physician at Merrimack, New Hampshire.
His brother Timothy was wounded at Bunker Hill. Allin went to care for him,
contracted a fever, went home to Merrimack and died July 12, 1775.[2] He is
buried in Turkey Hill Cemetery. [3]

William Griggs was a very well connected physician, and an
official consultant to the witchcraft trials. It was his job to determine how
much of a witch the person was. It seems suspicious that Dr. William’s adopted niece
& house keeper would accuse his competition
